Chair’s Letter to Friends

Celebrating21
Dear friend of The Craven Trust,

Over the 21 years that The Craven Trust has been active it has truly lived up to its motto of “local giving for local needs”. In association with the Beamsley Trust, which we also administer, we have supported over 650 local groups and individuals, providing grants totalling more than £380,000.

Our local giving has included needs as diverse as the Skipton Food Bank, Sedbergh Wanderers JFC and the Sangat Centre in Keighley. We provide an easily accessible source of funding that helps groups and organisations improve our local communities and support individuals suffering hardship. Our area of benefit follows the, now historic, boundary of the old Archdeaconry of Craven and takes in parts of North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, Lancashire and Cumbria.

As I am sure you will understand, we need to continue seeking funds and support to ensure that the trust can go on helping people. I hope this celebratory year will attract new interest and so I am reaching out to donors, friends, and all those who might be able to help raise our profile. Perhaps you could consider making a donation via our website? You can donate on-line at www.craventrust.org.uk.

In addition, we are also running a raffle to raise funds. We have had many very generous donations of raffle prizes which celebrate and reflect the diversity of our beautiful area. The prizes include dinner, bed and breakfast for two at the Coniston Hotel, Bolton Abbey Estate annual parking passes, dinner for two at The Angel at Hetton and The Bull at Broughton. In addition, we have family entrance tickets to local attractions such as Skipton Castle, Bronte Parsonage and Embsay Steam Railway. A full list of prizes can be found at http://www.craventrust.org.uk/?page_id=2231

We look forward to the next 21 years and hope to continue supporting the many and varied community and voluntary projects within our area.

With best wishes

Caroline Schwaller, MBE
